dedication, deeds and supreme sacrifice may be a constant source

Adm. James
B. Osborn Memorial Scholarship The Admiral James B. Osborn Memorial
Scholarship is named in honor of Admiral James B. Osborn and is funded by the
Charleston Base Submarine Veterans Inc. Admiral Osborn was selected to command
our Navy's first ballistic missile launching submarine, the USS GEORGE
WASHINGTON SSBN 598. Two years later, in July 1960, this submarine launched the
first POLARIS missile from below the ocean surface off Cape Canaveral. |

 On Tuesday evening, June 9th, three scholarships were awarded by the United States Submarine Veterans, Inc. The Admiral James B. Osborn Memorial Scholarship is
funded by the Charleston Base of USSVI. The scholarship will be awarded to a Tri-County
high school senior and disbursed as a one-time minimum $500 award to the
recipient. The recipients of the 2010
